Anticipating
the ever-increasing gap between demand and supply of
sandalwood oil, the group has taken up the venture
of sandalwood plantation.
The group’s initiative to undertake its own
sandalwood plantation is reflective of its long-term
vision to be fully self-reliant and further
consolidate its leadership in the sandalwood
business. It is a shining example of consolidation
through backward integration. What’s more,
sandalwood being the costliest raw material, the
plantation would provide the group with a platform
to better manage the market dynamics relating to
demand, supply and cost of sandalwood.
Sandalwood has been valued and treasured for many
years for its fragrance, carving, medical and
religious qualities. The maturity period for
sandalwood trees is 10 years.
Presently, the total area under sandalwood
cultivation is 175 acres, located in the state of
Madhya Pradesh.
The sandalwood trees grown through the best
practices adopted by the organization, are prefect
precursor to the absolutely high quality sandalwood
oil which is extracted at group’s hi-tech production
facilities.
